Still On The Fence About Pet Insurance? Here Are 6 Benefits That Separate Us From The Competition

Are you up to your eyeballs in Vet bills and tired of having to fork out money you didn’t budget for? Getting the kids a dog for Christmas seemed like a great idea, and now it feels like a costly mistake. Perhaps it’s time to consider taking out a pet insurance policy? The question is, who do you contact and what separates one pet insurer from the next? In tough economic times like these, we don’t blame you for wanting to get the best bang for your buck. If you are in the market for pet cover, take a few minutes to find out what separates us from the rest:

1. Our OneCard Transactional Card

If you find a more unique benefit, please let us know. When you become a OnePlan Pet policy holder we issue you with a OneCard for claims transactions. It’s a debit card which allows you to pre-load funds for your Vet and Routine care visits. When you get to the Vet you can pay with your card and avoid having to pay upfront and claim later.

2. You Get To Use Your Own Vet

That’s a pretty big issue if you own a pet, right? Imagine being with a pet insurer that dictates which Vet you need to drop in to see. We think it’s a deal breaker. A relationship with your Vet is the same as a relationship with your GP or dentist. You wouldn’t just pick any old dentist from the phonebook for your next root canal, would you?

With OnePlan Pet you can use any Vet of your choice, and we don’t limit the rates your Vet charges you. In other words, we will pay 100% of your claim up to your cover limit.

3.There Are No Sub-Limits For Your Vet Visits

If you belong to a medical aid, put up your hand if you’ve ever experienced a sub-limit payment issue? You think you are covered 100%, only to find out that a portion of the claim isn’t going to be entertained because of a benefit limit cap.

How frustrating is that?

Our thinking, when putting our OnePlan Pet policy together, was to not restrict or cap the Vet visits. That’s why our policy holders want the policy in the first place.

There are no sub-limits for your Vet visits – we pay up to the cover limit in your policy.

4.Our Routine Care Benefit

We believe that prevention is better than cure. That’s why we’ve added a Routine Care benefit to our policy. You may claim once a year for Routine Care (up to the limit stated in your policy) for the following:

  • The consultation
  • Voluntary sterilisation
  • Vaccinations
  • Deworming
  • Flea control
  • Gland expression

*But we don’t cover food and pet toys under this benefit. Sorry :(

5.Any condition is covered after 12 months

What happens if my dog or cat has a pre-existing condition? That’s a good question. Some pet insurance policies are going to exclude that condition outright. We think that’s a little harsh. With OnePlan Pet, we will cover any condition after twelve (12) months, regardless if it is considered to be:

  • Pre-existing
  • Hereditary
  • Congenital

6.Our Mobile App

At OnePlan we want to make your life as easy as possible. Our mobile application is there to assist with the speedy administration of your policy - Basically all your policy information is at your fingertips anywhere you go.
